Halloween can mean different things to different people. For the kids, it’s a time to have fun, for their imaginations to run wild as they wear different costumes and go out trick-or-treating. For teens and adults, it can be for exploring fears and the darker sides of reality.
For many more in the country, it is a time for remembering those who have passed on, honoring their memories when they were alive. But the family as whole often loves to gather, and spend precious moments with each other, often in comfort while watching fun or thrilling Halloween specials in their big TV screens at home. This October 30 and 31, an entire host of SKY Select channels will air shows and movies that will find their own unique space in the viewers’ hearts – whether it be for lighthearted joy or nerve-wracking terror. The warmest and fondest Halloween memories form during childhood. Among them were Halloween cartoon and movie marathons that can be watched all day.
In Boomerang, kids who want to experience the classic antics of Garfield can tune-in to Garfield Special: Bewitched, 10am on October 31. In this hilarious misadventure, Garfield finds himself as a witch’s assistant, in his search for a cure to turn Odie back into a dog.
Starting 11am, Boomerang will air the Scooby Doo Halloween Movie Marathon where fans can watch Mystery Inc get out of one hijink and into another.
Disney Junior has a halloween special for our youngest kids. By 8:30am on October 31, kids can watch the Jake and the Neverland Pirate’s “Stowaway Ghosts/Happy 100th Birthday” episode.
Viewers will witness Pirate Mummy’s 1000th birthday and how Jake and his friends helped Hook get rid of trickster phantoms. Movie treats fit for the entire family will be featured in Fox Family Movies. Ghostbusters airs by 9:55pm on October 31.
Fans of this classic can watch how Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Sigourney Weaver handle ghosts and terrors in the most comedic way possible. Ghostbusters II follows at 11:40pm. In this sequel, the Ghostbusters deal with a resurgence of paranormal activity due to the presence of an ectoplasmic river beneath their city. Fans of grim delights will enjoy the film offerings of Fox Action Movies.
On October 30, 10pm, horror afficionados can watch the premier of Wer – a story about a peculiar man blindly charged for committing gruesome murders. A.J. Cook, Sebastian Roche, and Vik Sahay stars in this film about the rebirth of an unexpected legend.
The following night, by 10pm, is the premiere of Dark Was the Night. Starring Kevin Durang and Lukas Haas, the story focuses on how the local sheriff faces the demons of his past as he deals with the evils that awoke in the trees.
Halloween movie specials grow even darker with Fox Movies Premium’s terrifying selections. In Devil’s Due, starring Allison Miller, Zach Gilford, and Sam Anderson, a young couple comes to grips with an unexpected turn of events – a pregnancy after a long and mysterious honeymoon night.
The story will unfold starting 10pm on October 30. Action and suspense spills through the TV screen the following night, with the horror flick, The Pyramid. Ashley Hinshaw, James Buckley, and Denis O’Hare stars in this frightful story, where a group of american arheologists are trapped and hunted within a pyramid in the egyptian desert. Movie airs October 31, by 10pm.
