As Daryll and I transversing the road towards SM Mall of Asia’s SMX Convention on a rainy Saturday morning, we’re about to learn new techniques on how to market our blogs and other things that we can adapt it in our digiital life as bloggers.
The Digital Influencers Marketing Summit 2012 was held last September 29 at SMX Convention Center in Pasay City, which was organized by DigitalFilipino led by Ms. Janette Toral.

Love the shirt + Treasured certificate of recognition = inspired to blog |
Started off the summit was the announcement of the Top 10 Emerging Influential Blogs for 2012, which I am included on the said list.
Here are the list of winners of Top 10 Emerging Influential Blogs for 2012:
- The Purple Doll

- Rappler
- The Urban Walker
- So Gellesh
- Blogged: Eccentric Yet Happy
- Filipino Bloggers Worldwide

- Unsugarcoated Reviews
Four of my bets on the said list for the Top 10 Emerging Influential Blog also won.
Search Opt Media’s Gary Viray shared his expertise on “Hitting Page 1: How Influencers and Brand Advocates are Shaping Search Engine Results”. As a social media specialist, I spend a lot of time optimizing keywords everytime I posted blog posts for my blog and for The Web Magazine and some of them made it to the 1st page.
You have to target the right market whenever you’re hitting the keyword for your topic. SEO is important whenever you want it to make it to the list. Yet it’s not important for ranking your set of keywords—clients do care about ROI or Return Of Investments, Conversion, and Real Value. All your marketing strategies and SEO apps, it’s a matter of time, efforts and patience on how to make it big. Remember, “SEO is not a sorcery.“
Tof Salcedo joined in the panel and talked about the importance of Google +. Nowadays, Google + is one of the useful online tools, like Google Authorship. It helped me a lot when I verified it few months ago.
One of the highlight of this event was the most talked about topic during that week: The controversial Cybercrime Prevention Act. As Internet law expert Atty. JJ Disini talked about “Cybercrime and Data Privacy Laws: What Every Digital Influencer Needs to Know”. I was stunned about the penalties on libel clause that Senator Tito Sotto inserted to that particular law.
PinoyOrganics.com’s Jhoey Hernandez |
There’s influencers’ pitch session wherein they talked about their advocacies. Philhybrid‘s Jo Mitra started to talk about “Internet is Real Life”. Jhoey Hernandez of PinoyOrganics.com talked about the value of staying fit and healthy by making organic food in every meals.
Meanwhile, Booklatin Philippines’ Song Medina-Babijes talked about selling e-books online which was authored by new Filipino writers. Mannix Pabalan pitched his group deal site Granton World‘s achievements and plans for the future.
Rosario Juan (also known as @juanxi on Twitterverse) talked about Brand Love: Building Relationship with Influencers and Brand Advocates”. I learned about how can be an endorser turned advocate. From marketing approach like word of mouth, plus adopting new digital trends such as virality of the said product, and types of advocates (endorser and convert).
Real estate broker Maita Siquijor of Architerra shared her insights on “The Influencer Transformation: Digital Pathways to Service and Profit”. One of the best thing I learned from Maita is she managed her time using different social media strategy and other online tools.
Vanj Padilla talked about her transformation from a journalist to social media campaigner |
Pangasinan’s pride Vanj Padilla also joined the panel as she talks about her transformation from a journalist to social media campaigner. What I liked about Ate Vanj is that she achieved a lot of things yet still helping her fellow Pangasinense to be recognized like the Google MapUp the whole province and making 200 websites of public school in the said province.
Kudos to Ms. Janette Toral for a job well done organizing this spectacular summit. And I hope to join next year’s summit.
